Dawn Baggett is a lifetime researcher, learner, teacher.
As a farm girl Dawn had a natural interest in the benefits of more natural and holistic ways of wholesome living, buuuut....that was put on pause for a while as she tried to "fit in"....until she became a mom.
Her desire for helping people led Dawn to law school. Though she loved it, being wife and mom were higher priorities than being a lawyer and Dawn soon left her successful law practice to become a full-time mom. Later still, homeschooling a full household, caregiving and (out of necessity) studying chronic illness, disability and special needs became her full time job and then some.
Serious and crisis-level health needs in the family spurred Dawn to put her research skills to use when doctors and specialists threw up their hands in defeat. Dawn embraced the opportunity to learn from highly skilled experts for the sake of her children and inadvertently found new ways to help herself and others. A renewed spark to serve others through business emerged...but life was about to turn upside down again with behavior and mental/emotional health challenges shook Dawn and the entire family to the core.
Dawn's strong faith in God as a follower of Jesus Christ continued to keep her going through it all, even when it seemed nearly impossible.
From there Dawn eventually learned that many of the (seemingly unusual) challenging experiences as an adoptive mom were similar to many others. Dawn felt the need to fill the gap for meaningful support for other adoptive moms, moms whose children had a background of early childhood traumas and who may also be dealing with their own past or current trauma.
“Supporting someone who has experienced trauma requires that we accept that a person may be both living in a secure and predictable present, while also experiencing an overwhelming, ever-present, past” [from the Institute of Child Psychology]
Coaching became the clear answer!
But as the area of coaching has exploded in the past few years and is largely unregulated, there are a lot of variations, and variations in training - many out of alignment with Dawn's Christian faith, Biblical beliefs and personal values. Dawn's hesitation gave way as God showed her that coaching was indeed her answer and what she was made for! The International Christian Coaching Institute is Dawn's choice for her own training and education as a Christian Life Coach. Dawn learned about the ICCI and it was a perfect fit!
